The Spice Route Hiking Trail is crossing some of the most pristine areas of the Negev Desert , Israel . It begins in the Ramon Crater and ends in the Arava Valley. The hike passes over the mountain ranges and canyons of the Central Negev and it is a journey through 250 million years of geological time and 7000 years of history. The trail starts on the Nabateans Spice Route , and later it runs parallel to it, on the more picturesque paths of the area. The length of the trail is 30 km, with an approximately 15 km walk each day, in 6 to 7 hours. The tour is tailored for small to medium groups of 5 to 8 persons. Meals, camping equipment and guiding in English, Hebrew, German and Spanish are included. The trip begins and ends in Mitzpe Ramon. .
