What is interesting in this tour?
Its back in time jeep tour with scenes from 250 million years ago. Explore this geological window and learn about our world
past.
The "deserted" desert here preserved for us the pre-history and
allows us to expand its secrets
by another 10,000 years.
Information about the tour
The Ramon Crater is the most interesting landscape in the Negev desert.
It is the largest erosion crater in the world: It spans 40 km , its width is 9 km and its depth
approximately 300 meter. The earliest rocks exposed
here are from the Triassic period , about 250 million years ago. Signs of
preman that lived in the region are traceable through out
the region . These include dwellings, graves, ancient water systems and old trade routes.
The Ramon Crater is an nature reserve, packed with a wealth of interesting
geological and historical sites. It is an excellent place to observe the diverse
local wildlife, especially early in the morning or towards dusk.

Ramon Crater Sites
Ramon Crater is a giant "hole" that was eroded naturally. The
unique process that caused the development of Ramon Crater is the Dead Sea
fault. Our jeep tours explore the Ramon Crater
and in our tour we literally descend into the earth belly. This
is fun and educating and gives us a chance to recreate the geological past.
Its
reflected in the many Ramón Crater sites that can be visited in our jeep tours. Here is partial list:
The Carpentry : Its a hill that looks like elongated wood pile. It was created by volcanic eruption
and metamorphosis of sand stone in high temperature.
Ammonite Wall : Its the outer Ramon Crater wall that collected fossils called the Ammonite.
These are extinct large ocean shells that were fossilized into a stone.
Ardon Dike: It was created by volcanic eruption that show impressively the vertical walls called dikes.
